Astatic galvanometer
Dating2 February 1903
Tool for the detection of weak currents (galvanometer) and/or for the comparative measure of the currents. The device is equipped with two magnetized needles suspended to a torsion thread and mounted one above the other with opposite poles (astatic system) so the instrument is insensitive to the misleading action of the terrestrial magnetic field typical in the galvanometers with only one magnetized needle. The astatic system was introduced in the galvanometer by Leopold Nobili (1784 - 1835), who built tools of remarkable accuracy and great precision.
