Induction coil Nº 863
Dating8 July 1917
MakerLuigi Gori
The first working model of such a machine was invented by Irish priest Nicholas J. Callan (1799-1864) in 1837. The induction coils of Heinrich D. Ruhmkorff (1803-1877) were excellent and most efficient instruments than the devices of Callan. For this reason in the nineteenth century Ruhmkorff, that began marketing its instruments starting from 1851, is known as the inventor of the induction coil and Callan was forgotten.
