Brass square by F. Manfredotti |
---|
Dating | Before 1818 (XVIII cent.) | |
---|
Maker | Francesco Manfredotti |
---|
The tool, signed F. Manfredotti, was used in horizontal position and with its compass (the needle has gone lost) to get measures of angles for the cartographic reliefs. Besides it could be employed as proportion compass: infact its arms are endowed with the usual nicks to quickly perform specific calculations. The measures are in "feet" and precisely in the "Piede di Venetia" [Venician foot] and in the "Piede di Parigi" [Parisian foot].
